Day 19…The Lord will build His church

Tue 8th Sep 2015: 8.30pm.

“Even when the Storm rages, God is in control.”

Proverbs 19:21 Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.

Have you ever felt like your life is out of control? Things are happening around you and you have no say. You are at the mercy of circumstance and chance. Most people I know like to be in control of their fate. It gives us a sense of security. We want our kids saved and serving God, we want our minds at ease, our finances sorted, and our relationship at 100%. The reality is life doesn’t work like that.

I am out of control and loving it!

God is in control. To rest in that thought takes faith. God, You know what you are doing and I trust you. For a pastor and his wife, building a church is a supernatural thing, and we can’t control every aspect. We cant control peoples prayer lives or church attendance. We can’t control their giving or hunger for outreach…we need to trust God. Since we can’t make the day go quicker or predict our future, rest in this: GOD IS IN CONTROL!

Tuesday night we had out highest attendance for a while, and a young man I was working with and praying for came into the church unexpectedly. I preached on Lying and appealed to folks to respond to Jesus. He raised his hand to accept Christ. Another lady rededicated and a young 5 year old also raised her hand. It was powerful. I got to pray with him and we spent time together after service talking. He is also coming to bible study this Friday…The Gospel works.

Sunday gone, whilst we were in Dublin, 2 men were added to the church, they prayed to receive Christ and I am yet to meet them this coming Sunday. God is building His church. When we started this idea of witnessing to one person a day, God has accelerated the church. Would to God that all men and women would preach the gospel in and out of season, we would impact the world.

What I learned:

  1. If you invest in another man’s ministry God will bless yours.
  2. Keep the people you are working with in prayer – they may just walk in through the doors.
  3. Love people genuinely. They can tell the difference. If you can’t love people then the call to preach is not for you.

Quote of the day:

“The gospel is not a doctrine of the tongue, but of life. It cannot be grasped by reason and memory only, but it is fully understood when it possesses the whole soul and penetrates to the inner recesses of the heart.”
