The Rule of 5 remixed!

Hi Reader!!

Luk 6:38 (NLT) Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.”

In life you will get out what you put in. This is a timeless truth, but we live in the generation that is looking for deliverance – but don’t want to labour for it. We look for revival but don’t pray, look for growth but don’t work.

John Maxwell has a principal he lives by called “the Rule of 5” which he attributes to his success. When John was 17 he told his Father he wanted to be a motivational speaker one day. His father advised him to be a reader and to file away interesting quotes and illustrations every day. So every for the last 51 years, he did just that. Every day he would:

  1. Read
  2. Think
  3. File
  4. Ask questions
  5. Write

He now has tens of thousands of: Quotes, stories, ideas, anecdotes, illustrations. He has written over 73 books and sold over 2 million copies…

….That was NOT an accident:

  • He didn’t write 12hrs a day. Just did it a little bit everyday.

Rom 12:11 Do not lack diligence; be fervent in spirit; serve the Lord.

  • What is your rule?

In life you will get out what you put in

There is not a single reader here that wouldn’t say they want more from their relationship with God

  • Freedom over sin
  • Freedom to forgive
  • Freedom to pray
  • Financial freedom
  • Family freedom
  • Dominion over the flesh etc…

When we don’t get it in the way and time that we expect – the natural response is to be down in the dumps. To get discouraged and depressed. Can I encourage you and say don’t get depressed….get DESPERATE – desperate enough to do something about it.

In life you will get out what you put in

Eccl 11:6 Sow your seed in the morning and do not be idle in the evening, for you do not know whether morning or evening sowing will succeed, or whether both of them alike will be good.

Keep working at your salvation AND be consistent. Pastor, keep plugging away at the Harvest and reap in due season. Doing good things EVERY TIME is better than doing good things sometimes.

Let’s take bible reading for example. The average person spends:

  • 3hrs 52mins watching television
  • 2hrs 46mins listening to radio
  • 28mins using a mobile phone
  • 1hr 8mins on the internet A DAY.

If you spent 1hr a day reading your bible you would finish the whole book in 70-75 days (2.5 months). We claim we want deliverance from besetting sins, but we don’t read the Book we claim God wrote!

Psa 119:10-11 (NLT) I have tried hard to find you, don’t let me wander from your commands. 11 I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.

  • Please don’t complain about sin issues, if you are not DAILY hiding Gods word in your heart!
  • God has laid it out, but we don’t have diligence in doing right
  • Reading your bible now and again is nowhere near as powerful as it being part of your rule of 5.

In life you will get out what you put in

Your ability to grow has to do with HOW you live.

Pro 13:4 The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied.

There are things we desire, but why we don’t get them sometimes has nothing to do with God doesn’t love me or the devil is after me, or I’m not good enough and a lot more to do with laziness.

Proverbs 21:25 The desire of the sluggard kills him, for his hands refuse to labour

This Blog is my attempt to share number 3 of my rule of 5

  1. Read the bible every 6 months
  2. Pray every morning and evening
  3. Witness to one person a day
  4. Spend time with my family
  5. Be reading and learning

I’ve been asking God to add more men to our church and by His grace, decided to witness to at least one person a day. If I do this for the next 5 years I would have shared Jesus with at least 1,825 men. If only 5% of them made it…(I’m believing God for a lot more though)…then 91 men will be added to the church.

Imagine what God could do, just by using your faith and consistency.

Pro 14:23 in all toil there is profit, but mere talk tends only to poverty.

Yours in Christ
